Chiefs Coach On Chislett, Shinga Absences After Gallants Draw

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef says new signings Ethan Chislett and Nkanyiso Shinga will be introduced into the squad, when the time is right as they continue to work hard in training.

The two off-season signings lured from Europe created a buzz around the club and was surrounded by major fanfare but neither have made their official debuts for the club as things stand, seven games into the new league campaign.

After a five-match unbeaten start, Amakhosi have begun to stutter, with a 3-1 loss to Sekhukhune United, and 1-1 draw with Marumo Gallants on Wednesday evening – in between the 1-0 defeat to Kabuscorp in the 1st preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

“With Shinga and Ethan, both of them are with us, they are training and we as coaches, we know when will be the right moments to introduce them in the team, they keep working with good attitude in training, very good performances in training,” he said when asked if it could potentially be a repeat of the Bongani Sam transfer.

“We are waiting until the best moment to introduce them in the team.”

Ben Youssef also shielded the team from criticism after dropping points again, in a match where Gaston Sirino saw his penalty saved, spurning a chance to make it 2-0 before half-time against Gallants at FNB Stadium.

“The players performed well, the result was not good. I think what we did over 90 minutes, we deserved to win the game, we deserved three points, so congratulations to Marumo Gallants for the performances they showed this season, they have done well,” he said.

“You saw the results against the other teams, what they did, they always create difficulties for other teams – but I think we prepared very well for the game, the plan of the game was clear for the players and football is like that…

“When you score the first goal and you get an opportunity after to score the second goal and to make it easier – we were unlucky to score, not like them, one opportunity they got and the scored. Now the game is finished, it’s 1-1 and now we have in a few days another game.”

Amakhosi will now start preperation to overturn their 1st round qualifying tie against the in-form Angolan side, who they host this weekend at the Calabash.

“We don’t have to think a lot, tomorrow we brief about the game and discuss about all the situation and we try to keep going, it’s a very important game this Saturday and I hope this weekend we will win to qualify for the next round.”
