Chiefs Coach On Ranga Struggles

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has discussed Ranga Chivaviro’s struggles in front of goals in recent games.

Chivaviro came on as a half-time substitute in his side’s 1-0 defeat to Golden Arrows and had a golden chance to put Amakhosi ahead in the tight game.

However, he missed his chance early in the second and later Arrows’ netted the opener via Gladwin Shitolo.

After the match, Youssef discussed Chivaviro’s chance and how they coaches are trying to work on the player’s finishing.

“Ranga is a striker, and a striker’s life is you have to score,” he said when asked about the striker.

“He started the league very well, he scored four goals. After that there was a little drop.

“Now, we are working and always trying to make individual sessions for him. For sure, he had a big opportunity to score but he was unlucky.

“He choose to take it with his left foot, maybe if he takes it with the right foot it would be more easy.

“It’s a decision, as a striker he has to take a decision. We work inside, we try to fix it.”

Youssef also insisted Chiefs’ failure to put chances away has been their main issue this season and it’s costing them many points.

“It’s like that in football, when you have the opportunity you have to use the opportunity to score. If you don’t score, you are in the risk to concede the goal,” he added.

Amakhosi are back in action on Sunday, when they will face third-placed Sekhukhune United.
