Baroka FC striker Siphelele Mthembu maintains that his former side Kaizer Chiefs will do better this coming season because of the changes they have made in the technical team.
Amakhosi have endured a nine-year trophy drought, and Mthembu was part of the last group to win silverware at the club in 2014/15. Last season was the worst for Chiefs where they finished outside the top 8 for the very first time.
Mthembu spoke to iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 171 of the newspaper, where he said Chiefs’ fortunes will change because they tend to do well under a non-South African coaches.
“They will come back,” Mthembu told iDiski Times.
“They will be better and I’m not being racist, but they always do better with a white coach. I think at Chiefs people who achieve mostly are non-South African white coaches. I don’t know why.
“It’s like that, but I think they will be better. But looking at the friendly games I saw, I still see the division within the headship. They must fix that, and they will be fine.”
