Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has confirmed four players have been ruled out ahead of their Soweto Derby against Moroka Swallows on Sunday afternoon.
Chiefs take on Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium with a host of off-the-field issues hanging over their heads with recent suspension and tensions reportedly growing within the squad.
Captain Itumeleng Khune is said to have been punished for reportedly arriving at training under the influence while Mduduzi Mdantsane served a suspseion for a similar offense.
Amakhosi have now confirmed Keagan Dolly, Ashley du Preez and Botswana captain Thatayaone Ditlhokwe will be ruled out to face the Dube Birds.
“We have Keegan Dolly, Itumeleng Khune, Ashley Du Preez and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe all out with injuries, I am not the coach who says that I want that type of player when I have 29 other players,” he confirmed to the club’s official website.
“The players that have been training their utmost this week will be the players who will go out. I just hope that my other players recover as soon as possible, to give us a headache in terms of selection.
“There are good signs; Ashley is out on the pitch and running a little bit. According to the medical report that I have, he will return at the end of December.”
Chiefs will be aiming to move into the top-eight with a win over fifth-placed Swallows with the game kicking off at 15h30.
