Kaizer Chiefs conceded an 89th minute equalizer through Findlay Curtis for a 1-1 draw against Glasgow Rangers in their first pre-season opener at Marbella Football Center on Sunday night.
Amakhosi had taken a 77th minute lead through winger Etiosa Ighodaro but Chiefs could also not hold on to the lead.
Scotland international Curtis, who featured twice at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, beat new Chiefs signing Leaner with a “superb dipping shot”.
The match was played behind closed doors and not streamed or televised with Rangers giving some insight via their website.
Amakhosi’s line-up for the start of the match was not presented but new signing Renaldo Leaner, Pule Mmodi, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Zitha Kwinika, Asanele Velebayi, Reeve Frosler and Kabelo Nkgwesa all got a run in the second period.

Amakhosi will face Saudi Pro League side Al Kholood on 15 July, before facing LaLiga club Elche CF on 18 July.
Al Kholood finished the 2025/26 campaign in 14th place, avoiding relegation by four points. Meanwhile, Elche finished in 15th place in LaLiga, avoiding relegation by just one point.
