New Kaizer Chiefs head of Scouting and Recruitment Thembela Maliwa has opened up about his move to Naturena, saying it’s the biggest of his career.
Maliwa has enjoyed a scouting career spanning 20 years that has also seen work at Ajax Amsterdam in Holland and then Mamelodi Sundowns where he spent the past seven years. He was appointed at Chiefs in August this year in the team’s bid to build a competitive squad as they seek to return to glory days.
‘Tera’ as Maliwa is affectionately known, spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in the latest edition of the newspaper where he said he’s honoured to be part of such a big institution.
“I’ve spent seven years at Sundowns, great years that I spent there, learned a lot from Sundowns, being a scout there and enjoyed myself,” Maliwa told iDiski Times.
“Now, I’m where I am now at Kaizer Chiefs, it’s a dream for everyone to work for such a club and to be in this department where I have to make sure that we bring the club back to the glory days.
“Chiefs is a big team, from the first day, you just want to work for this big institution and don’t waste time. I’m very happy with my career and very ambitious. I see myself helping the club, taking them back to the glory days. It’s a dream come true for me to be here.”
