Chiefs Legend Questions Leaky Defence & Top 8 Fight

Kaizer Chiefs legend Tsepo Masilela is worried his former club will be fighting for top eight again if they continue to concede goals in this manner under the tutelage of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Nabi and his technical team were roped in from FAR Rabat at the beginning of the current campaign and despite a promising start, they seem to have lost the rhythm which has seen them win just seven games in 2024 and currently occupy seventh spot.

The Glamour Boys have conceded a staggering 13 goals in 10 outings with Fiacre Ntwari, Brandon Petersen and Bruce Bvuma all playing part.

Masilela was a mainstay for the Naturena-based outfit between 2012 and 2018, winning the league title twice and the MTN8 once.

The 39-year-old former Bafana Bafana defender spoke to Umjaka on the SoccerBeat podcast and highlighted how the defensive back four has struggled to gel as well as how they will once again be fighting to crack a top eight berth.

“It’s a big worry, and when you watch them, the way they concede you think these guys maybe the coach joined one week before the league started and he didn’t have pre-season,” Masilela said.

“Because pre-season is there to work on things. You work on the shape, defensive roles, individuals, as a pair there’s a group the whole back four.

“They had ample of time to get things right and my worry is that the way they concede, no man it’s like the coach just joined one week before the league started.

“They had a proper pre-season. The league started late than usual. It’s scary that when are they gonna get it right?

“I said before, at this rate, they’ll be fighting for top eight again. I’m sorry to say that but at this rate it’s scary.

“It’s worrying for the fans as well,” Masilela added.
