Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that new striker Christian Saile Basomboli has been granted his work permit and is available for selection.
The Amakhosi had announced Basomboli’s signing from Nchanga Rangers last week but he also stated he could only join the club this week.
On Wednesday, he signed his three-and-half deal with the Glamour Boys and was unveiled by head coach Arthur Zwane, Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr and Head of youth and technical development, Moelfi Ntseki.
It was unclear whether Saile would be able to get his work permit on time for Sunday’s DStv Premiership clash, but the Amakhosi now confirmed that the 22-year-old will be available for selection on Sunday.
“Kaizer Chiefs have received a huge boost ahead of their first home game in Polokwane with the confirmation that new signing, Christian Saile Basomboli, has been granted his work permit, making it possible for him to play for the team,” the club said via a statement.
The Democratic Republic of Congo-born striker scored 19 goals for Nchanga Rangers last season, helping them gain promotion to Super League. He managed to find the back of the net seven times this season before moving to Chiefs.
The Glamour Boys sit in sixth place on the log and will take on 10th-placed Royal AM at the Peter Mokoba Stadium on Sunday, on their return to Polokwane for the first time in eight years.
