Having undergone his second pre-season with the senior squad, Kaizer Chiefs youngster Kabelo Nkgwesa has outlined a few pointers on how other up-and-coming footballers can make it professionally.
Nkgwesa, 19, featured in Amakhosi’s first friendly match of their pre-season tour in Alicante, Spain, getting 20 minutes as they played to a 1-1 draw against Scottish giants Glasgow Rangers.
The talented left-back was part of the Chiefs DStv Diski Challenge squad of 2024/25 that won the reserve league title and having had a taste and insight into top level football during pre-season, Nkgwesa encouraged other players why it’s possible.
“This is my second pre-season with the first-team squad, and I am very happy and grateful to be here,” he told the club’s website.
“I would say to any ambitious youngster coming through the development academy that if they just keep working hard, stay dedicated and show character by stepping up every time when it matters, it is possible to get to here.
“You can be an individual sometimes but always be a team player.”
Nkgwesa will be hoping to play part when the Glamour Boys host Zimbabwe Castle Premiership champions Scottland FC in the third edition of the Toyota Cup to be staged at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Complex on Sunday, 26 July.
