Chippa United co-head coach Thabo September has opened up on the rise of midfielder Sinoxolo Kwayiba who won the DStv Premiership Player of the Month award for April.
The towering midfielder scored four goals in as many games for the Chilli Boys, with many questioning where he’s been all season.
The appointment of Kwanele Kopo alongside September, however, was a blessing in disguise for the player, with Kopo having worked with him in the Motsepe Foundation Championship at Pretoria Callies last season.
“Kwayiba, he is a box-to-box player who can play as a 10, he can play as six, an eight, he has a good engine and good technique as well,” September said about the talented midfielder when asked about his development by iDiski Times.
“But he needs time to grow fully as a player. Coach Kopo worked with him at Pretoria Callies and when we came through, he knew him already. So when we assessed the team we thought he would be good for us.
“So that’s why he’s getting the opportunities and we’re happy that he’s grabbed the opportunity it’s just [against Pirates] it wasn’t his day like all the other players.”
Before April, Kwayiba had yet to score a register an assist in his nine previous appearances for the club.
