Chippa United have identified Stellenbosch midfielder Kyle Jurgens as one of their key targets for the 2025/26 season.
Jurgens, 21, earned promotion to the club’s first team three years ago and has amassed 50 appearances so far under head coach Steve Barker, primarily featuring as a right-back.
His versatility has been a key asset to the club during a season where they lost their club captain Deano van Rooyen to Orlando Pirates, and his performances has naturally attracted suitors.
Chippa United and Cape Town City, prior to their relegation, expressed interest in the midfield talent, but Stellenbosch have made it clear that he remains part of their plans for the new season.
However, sources have indicated the door is not completely closed for a transfer, with the player keen to earn more involvement in his preferred midfield role – which could play a factor over his future.
The Chilli Boys, who are under new leadership with Sporting Director Sinesipho Mali, along with a exciting technical team lead by Snethemba Badela and Musa Nyatama as head coach and assistant coach respectively are looking to rebuild the squad after 20 exits.
Sinoxolo Kwayiba secured a transfer to Orlando Pirates, the loans of Aphelele Teto (Livingston) expired, along with Siphelo Baloni and Sonwabo Khumalo, who returned to Orlando Pirates.
Andile Jali, Craig Martin, Darren Johnson, Bienvenu Eva Nga and Justice Chabalala were among the 17 player released upon the expiry of their respective contracts.
Bandile Dlamini, Khaya Mfecane, Thabiso Kutumela and Justice Figuareido are expected to be part of their new unveilings in the major revamp in Gqeberha.
