CT City Midfielder Set For MLS Move

Cape Town City have reached an agreement with Major League side FC Cincinnati for midfielder Xhosa Manyana.

Manyana comes from City’s DStv Diski Challenge squad having played the last two seasons in the league and helping City compete well even though they couldn’t win the DDC league title.

The 19-year-old was in the South Africa U20 national team which won the 2024 COSAFA Cup – qualified for the next U20 AFCON – alongside the likes of Emile Witbooi and Orlando Pirates’ Mbekezeli Mbokazi.

Manyana previously played for an LFA team Ulana Academy where City spotted him. The midfield maestro recently signed a senior contract with the Citizens but was still waiting for his chance to make his senior debut.

This publication has established that City reached an agreement with FC Cincinnati for the services of Manyana where he is set to spend six months on loan with an option to buy for Cincinnati.

This will be the second a Cape Town City academy player leaves the club for abroad after Luphumlo “Kaka” Sifumba joined Portugal’s side FC Vizela.
