Cape Town Spurs‘ fight for survival has escalated to the High Court and that will delay Asanele Velebayi’s next move to a Betway Premiership side.
Spurs and JDR Stars had protested about allegedly incorrectly registered Saziso Magawana by Durban City a month ago, but the PSL DC and SAFA arbitration dismissed the case, which confirmed Durban City as the Motsepe Foundation Championship champions.
However, the Urban Warriors continue to fight off the field, as they have escalated the matter to the High Court.
And their fight continues to delay a possible move for Velebayi, as he remains contracted to the club until all legalities are sorted.
If Spurs are confirmed to be relegated to the ABC Motsepe League, his contract will be null, and void and he will be allowed to join a team of his choice as a free agent.
Ahead of 2024/25, Kaizer Chiefs were chasing Velebayi and they could pounce on the 22-year-old, if Spurs’ relegation is confirmed.
