SuperSport United captain Tyson Hlatshwayo has picked his Player of the Season candidates, leaving out Lucas Ribeiro who has been touted by many as favourite for the award.
The 26-year-old Brazilian has enjoyed a successful season with Mamelodi Sundowns where he played a key role in them securing their eighth successive domestic league title. He also clinched the Lesley Manyathela Golden Boot award with 16 goals.

However, he did not make the former Bafana Bafana captain’s list, which includes two of his teammates and one Orlando Pirates player, as revealed in edition 207 of iDiski Times newspaper with Lethabo Kganyago. Â
“To be honest, there are only two players that have impressed me, actually three,” Hlatshwayo told iDiski Times.
“Number one is Teboho Mokoena. I think he has done so well with the Champions League and for Bafana Bafana. Ronwen Williams has done well for the national team and for his club.
“And the last one is [Makhehleni] Makhaula from Orlando Pirates. I think he has done so well to make sure that Pirates are where they are today.”
