Doctor Shares Views On Petersen-Johnson Clash

Kaizer Chiefs legend Doctor Khumalo has shared his views after a clash captured on TV between Brandon Petersen and Cavin Johnson which went viral on social media.

Amakhosi lost Saturday’s derby 3-2 to Pirates despite leading twice, with their bitter rivals completing the double over Chiefs for the first time in 15 years.

While Johnson brushed off the incident as something that happens in football, it caused a furore on social media, as Petersen was seen in what looked like an angry exchange with the coach after the 3-2 loss to Orlando Pirates.

“I needed to be honest and precise. I’ve seen such happening,” Khumalo said while speaking on Soccer Zone.

Khumalo said it wasn’t uncommon for players and coaches to talk in that manner, but said where it happens is also vital.

“Myself, in the dressing room with Jeff Butler. In the dressing room by the way, inside the dressing room,” Khumalo added.

“I didn’t want to do it in front of the supporters because the interpretation indicates a bad image.

“Where it happened, it’s different. And also the way it happened. It’s unlike the normal Kaizer Chiefs. Because if the coach feels that players can question, but can we do that in isolation, in order for us to interact, but that was not interacting.

“The gesture, its anger, because there was throwing of hands. People are watching. And now the team is not doing well. There’s speculations that were there prior this about division within the team, now this now starts to escalate a lot of perception.

“But I’m not saying it’s exactly what is happening, but [it looks like] from where I’m seated.

“It’s only when it was on social media, then that’s where I was like, ‘What is going on here?’ Then people explained to me.”
