Downs & SSU Stars To Miss Tshwane Derby

SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns will battle on Wednesday night for bragging rights and three points without several of their stars.

With 15 league titles between the two sides, this is expected to be an epic clash.

Both sides have been busy with continental football, with Matsatsantsa only arriving on Monday morning back from Egypt following a 1-0 defeat to Future, while Sundowns had a good start to the CAF Champions League group stage, defeating Mauritanian side FC Nouadhibou 3-0.

But both teams will have to make some changes going into the games, with SuperSport missing their first-choice goalkeeper Ricardo Goss and talisman Etiosa Godspower Ighodaro, as they are ineligible to play as per loan agreement with Masandawana.

On the other side, Downs will miss Bongani Zungu because of the red card he got against TS Galaxy in the Carling Knockout Cup Round of 16 for his late tackle against Bernard Parker.

Another big blow will definitely be the absence of Marcelo Allende, who’s also out due to suspension after receiving his fourth yellow card in the 31st minute against Galaxy, which was the last domestic fixture Sundowns have played.

On the DStv Premiership table, the two sides are separated by just one point, with Downs sitting in second spot with 24 points and United sitting in third place with 23 points, but having played four games more.
