Ertugral Breaks Silence After City Exit

Muhsin Ertugral has broken his silence after his Cape Town City exit and sent a message of thanks to the club and his former players.

City confirmed that they parted ways with Ertugral after a poor run of results where they are currently on a 10-match winless streak, losing seven of those games.

The former Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs head coach was expected to become the technical director at City at the end of the season, but that will not happen as he has left the club entirely.

Ertugral was named Coach of the Month in January after winning three of his first four matches, including back-to-back wins over Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, but thinks turned sour after that.

The 65-year-old sent a heartfelt thank you message to City, stating that goodbyes are never easy.

“It’s never easy to say goodbye, but sometimes the game leads us down unexpected paths,” he wrote on social media.

“I’ll always be grateful for the memories, the lessons, and the incredible players I’ve had the privilege to know.

“Though some situations may seem unfortunate, I believe there’s always an opportunity to turn them into something greater.

“I wish nothing but success and good fortune for the team. Boys, Keep pushing, stay strong, and may luck always be on your side.

“Thank you for everything—wishing you all the best for the journey ahead.”
