Ertugral Highlights Concerns In Top 8 Chase

Cape Town City interim coach Muhsin Ertugral has highlighted midfield instability and away form as areas of concern as they bid for a top eight finish.

City exited the Nedbank Cup after losing 2-0 away at Sekhukhune United and the cup elimination means a good finish in the league is their only target this season with Ertugral claiming City is good enough to secure that.

The Citizens currently occupy sixth spot on the Betway Premiership table with 21 points in 16 games and the Turkish mentor believes his young players are trying their best however the side needs to work harder to keep the ball in matches.

“I think cup games are totally different,” Ertugral responded to iDiski Times questions.

“Also, you can see with us from a playing perspective, I could say the midfield is not that well. I really expect us to play. That’s one of the major concerns we have so we need to have little bit more ball possession. We are losing too much balls after the build-up and we enter the second zone, and we are losing a lot of balls.

“Obviously we need to work on this, but I think the team is good for top 8.

“So, we will work on those elements, and we can’t expect wonders from youngsters. They did very well now against the big teams in the country, but we need to get our away game from my opinion a bit stabilised.

“That’s where the challenge is.”
