Five Chiefs Players A Booking Away From Missing Downs Showdown

Lebohang Maboe, Mfundo Vilakazi, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Flavio Da Silva are all at risk of missing Kaizer Chiefs‘ highly anticipated Betway Premiership clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.

All five players find themselves sitting on three bookings with one match to play before the clash against the defending league champions next week.

The two sides will once again renew their rivalry when they lock horns on Wednesday, 6 May, at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

But before that clash, Chiefs will take the trip to Bloemfontein to entertain Siwelele FC at Free State Stadium while Sundowns are off to Limpopo to take on Polokwane City on Wednesday, 29 April.

With Chiefs and Sundowns having played to a goalless stalemate in the first round, this promises to be an electrifying tie with both sides aiming for different objectives.

Masandawana are on course for a league and cup double having reached the final of the CAF Champions League and still within a huge chance to leapfrog Orlando Pirates into first place for an unprecedent ninth consecutive league crown.

Amakhosi on the other hand are further looking to keep grip of third place in order to seal qualification for next season’s CAF Confederation Cup.

Silva picked up his third yellow card in their 2-1 defeat to Stellenbosch FC back in February, a game in which he scored as well.

Vilakazi, who seems to be finding his form again, was yellow carded for the third time this campaign in the 0-0 stalemate against Siwelele in October last year.

Despite walking away with the man of the match award, Maboe received his third booking in the 0-0 draw against Rise and Shine.

The other two players, Ndlovu and Ngcobo, were booked against Durban City and Magesi, respectively.

It looks to be seen if the Chiefs technical team will be forced to rest some of their key players against Siwelele tomorrow or go all out and risk missing them ahead of the Sundowns clash.
