Mamelodi Sundowns ended their winless run in pre-season in Austria, beating Qatari Stars League side Al-Arabi SC 3-0 in the first of two games on Friday.
Sundowns played their fourth friendly match since arriving in Austria for pre-season, but had so far been without a victory.
The South African champions lost 2-1 to German third division side SV Sandhausen and suffered a 1-0 defeat to Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv before collecting a 1-1 draw with Cardiff City.
But Downs started their first of two games on Friday on a high note, with Abubeker Nasir, who former coach Rulani Mokwena had regarded as a “non Sundowns player” in one of his last interviews, netting the opener against Al Arabi from the penalty spot inside two minutes.
Two more goals by Thapelo Maseko made and Tashreeq Matthews, who already netted his third in pre-season, made it 3-0 before half-time.
As usual, there were quite a few changes in the second half, which disrupted the flow of the match, but Masandawana brought the victory hime.
Sundowns have another game later Friday, when they will take on Saudi Pro League giants Al Hilal in the last friendly for their pre-season in Austria.
The will then get back to South Africa over the weekend to prepare for the upcoming season.
