Furious Johnson Slams Chiefs Players After Latest Loss

Kaizer Chiefs caretaker coach Cavin Johnson was furious with the performance of his players after their 1-0 defeat to Stellenbosch FC on Tuesday.

Amakhosi lost 1-0 with Devin Titus scoring the winner in first-half stoppage to extend Stellies unbeaten run to 19 games.

Meanwhile, Chiefs now just have one win in eight matches across all competitions, with their hopes of finishing in the CAF Champions League spot fading away.

“I thought the performance we put on tonight was not even half the performance we put on Saturday,” Johnson told SuperSport TV after the match.

“We have to go back, try again, put different players on the pitch and let’s see what happens.

“We just didn’t get it right tonight, I’m not happy with the performance of a lot of the players but we have to fix them up, we have to try our best.

“We have another game against Chippa, we need the points more than any other team in the PSL at this present moment.

“We need to box cleverer and we need to play the ball better.”

When asked what his side need to improve on, Johnson insisted they need to get the basics of passing right and inprove on their confidence.

“The players need to play proper technical, they need to be better technically,” he added.

“In a lot of moments where we have to play, they have to pass the ball better. We’re not looking like we can pass the ball better.

“We go 1-0 down, we’ve got 45 minutes to come back – be the confidence you are, be the Kaizer Chiefs you are!

“Play proper ball, don’t just kick the ball and that for me is very disturbing from my players.”
