Galaxy Star In Line For Surprise Transfer

TS Galaxy defender Samukelo Kabini looks set for a potential move to Europe with Molde FK.

The 20-year-old has emerged as one of the most promising defenders in South Africa since joining the club from Orlando Pirates and has been named in the preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for their upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

A technically gifted left-footed centre-back that can also feature at left-back attracted some interest from Bundesliga side FC Augsburg after their pre-season in Mpumalanga and the Rockets has fielded several enquiries over his services since.

iDiski Times understands the Norwegian top-flight side are in advanced talks with the Rockets and are aiming to wrap up the deal before their transfer window shuts at the end of the month.

He was notably not part of their squad that drew 1-1 with Cape Town City this week, with sources confirming that the player has already been informed to get his paperwork ready for the potential switch abroad.

Vålerenga were also among the suitors for Kabini and are are no strangers to the Premier Soccer League, having recently secured Brice Ambina and Nathan Idumba Fasika from Cape Town City on loan, with the former joining on a permanent deal and now being linked with a lucrative move to Europe’s top-five leagues.

While Galaxy were reluctant to lose one of their key players at this stage of the season, it’s believed Molde have stumped up an offer that meets Galaxy’s asking price which is in excess of R10-million, as they look to wrap the deal up swiftly before the start of the 2025 Eliteserien on 29 March.

Kabini has featured 39 times for Galaxy, scoring three goals and registering three assists since making his professional debut on 1 November 2023 under then head coach Sead Ramovic.
