Hunt Gives Update On New Recruit

SuperSport United head Gavin Hunt gave an update on a striker who recently joined the side on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Abubeker Nasir had a bright start at Sundowns when he joined from Ethiopia’s Bunna. The Ethiopian International scored four goals in less than 700 minutes he played in the colours of Sundowns.

He then got injured in a clash against Orlando Pirates when he collided with Siyabonga Mpontshane and he was out for a season before making his return. Since his return, he has been the same and has been loaned out to United for game time.

Hunt confirmed that the 24-year-old is with them and they need him to recover as they lack goals upfront but emphasized that they must first get him fit as he hasn’t played for a long period.

“Yeah, he is with us. He hasn’t played for two years.” Hunt told iDiski Times.

“We will try to get him fit, we have to get him fit, get him stronger and hopefully we can have him. It’s a problem we scored one goal in four or five games now.”

A follow-up question was about the veteran defender Onismor Bhasera. Hunt confirmed that he is no longer with the club he left end of last season.

“(Bhasera) No, he left us in the early of the year.”
