Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt has issued a warning to his charges of a daunting task that lies ahead against Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.
Stellies face the defending champions away at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, a venue that’s been a fortress for the hosts in recent years.
Hunt’s side are looking to build on their last victory looking to close in on the top eight after they dispatched Sekhukhune United 3-1.
They are currently in ninth position on the table with 31 points from 24 matches while Sundowns are second with 56 points in 23 outings.
Ahead of the game, the coach rated Sundowns highly calling them one of the best sides in Africa.
He added that his side will have to do the right things in the game.
“It was important for us to win last week, especially coming into the Sundowns game,” Hunt was quoted on the club’s website.
“They are, for me, certainly one of the top sides in Africa. We are under no illusions about what we face and what will be a very difficult task.
“They haven’t lost in about 52 games at Loftus and at home, so it won’t be easy.
“I’m looking forward to it, though, and we’ll go there with a good plan and see if it works.
“We can only play to our full ability, and we will need to do the right things at the right time, but that’s football.”
