Hunt Makes SSU Transfer Admission

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has admitted that it’s likely that his side will lose some of their best players ahead of the 2024/25 DStv Premiership campaign.

Matsatsantsa currently occupy the fifth spot in the league standings but could finish the season in fourth position, however they would need to beat Orlando Pirates and hope Galaxy drop points at Polokwane City.

When quizzed about being unable to dip into the transfer market because of financial constraints, Hunt had this to say.

“Well, what do you expect out of the season, what do you expect? It’s always difficult,” he told the media.

“The way we finished last year, to try and improve on that when you losing players, you know. So, we’ve built a brand new team again so obviously some players are gonna go again. It’s gonna be tough.”

The four-time PSL-winning coach also believes that if they kept their best players, winning the league again would not be a problem, though he admitted finances scupper such chances.

“Like we do every year at this club. If we keep all our players, we win the league, won’t we, simple,” he added.

“But obviously it’s difficult financially what we have to balance the books and you work on a budget and those type of things.

“We are, that’s our club we produce the youth. 13/14 players this year from under 20s so that’s the club and that’s what we got to do.

“So when you get ups and downs, you’ll get inconsistency performance from young players, but they will be a lot better next year a lot them because they would’ve had better taste than this year.”

Hunt and his charges close off the season with a daunting assignment away to Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, May 25.
