Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Pule Mmodi has referred to himself as a ‘big game player’ as they target maximum points against Mamelodi Sundowns this evening.
Weeks ago, Amakhosi were seen as a side that would have a say in the title race, and they seem to be proving right so far after holding their rivals Orlando Pirates to a draw a giving advantage to Mamelodi Sundowns.

This evening, they will face Sundowns who are desperate for points as they aim to extend the lead at the top to five points after Pirates cut it to two points with a win last night against Stellenbosch FC in Cape Town.
Speaking with the Chiefs media, Mmodi stated that he has a good feeling about this game and also emphasized that this is a new game and history won’t matter.
“I’m feeling good about the game tomorrow [today]. The guys are all ready and looking forward to getting on the field,” Mmodi said.
“We really wanted to win the Derby and gave everything we had, and I think we suffered from a bit of fatigue against Siwelele. It’s not an excuse but I think that it explains some of our performance in Bloemfontein. It was Siwelele’s strategy to come out fast against us, knowing we had just come off a very hard match only a few days earlier and it worked for them,” Mmodi explained.
“The record is there, but it is history,” he says flatly. This is a new game, and we are going there to give our best to get a good result. We know Sundowns are trying to win the league and are as hungry for the points as we are, but we will be ready for them.
“I don’t think it will make any difference; Sundowns have a lot of depth in their squad so they will put out a very strong team. That said, we have made good use of the week and have prepared very well for the match.
“If I get the chance, I will be very happy to score because I love playing in big games.”
