Kaizer Chiefs caretaker coach Cavin Johnson has revealed how his side will deal with the suspension of midfielders Edson Castillo and Yusuf Maart.
Both players picked up their fourth yellow card in the Soweto Derby ahed of the international break and will miss Chiefs’ trip to City.
However, Johnson believes his side have enough depth to replace the two regulars in the crunch tie.
“Losing players to suspension is part of the game. For whomever has to sit out, we have a replacement and I have faith in the quality in depth of our squad,” he told Chiefs’ media team.
“We have Ox [Sibongiseni Mthethwa], [Siyethemba] Sithebe, Samkelo [Zwane] who are all available and can come in and do the job in the middle of the park.”
Johnson, whose side have won just one of their recent six games, will face a City side that has just one win in their last eight games. However, the Chiefs coach believes the Citizens will raise their game against the Glamour Boys.
“We don’t read too much into their recent performances because every team that plays against Kaizer Chiefs always put in extra effort, so we are expecting them to raise their game and are therefore not taking anything lightly,” he added.
“We prepare properly for every match regardless of who we are playing against.”
City have a strong recent head-to-head record against Chiefs, winning five out of their last six clashes in the DStv Premiership.
