Kaizer Jr – Chiefs Offered More Money To Bafana Star Than African Giants

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has dropped a bombshell that they offered more money for Elias Mokwana despite him opting to join ES Tunis.

The Glamour Boys were favourites to land the Bafana Bafana international, who had also attracted interest from Mamelodi Sundowns, but were left red-faced after the player moved to North Africa.

In his recent interview on Radio2000 with Thabiso Mosia, ‘Chincha Guluva’ conceded that Amakhosi had met the valuation by Sekhukhune United, but an agreement was not reached.

“He was true [Chiefs approaching Mokwana],” Motaung Jr said.

“And we submitted an offer, and had extensive negotiations with Mr [Simon] Malatji from Sekhukhune United. I met him numerous times. Submitted our written offer.

“We even were granted permission to speak to the player for personal terms and the player had even agreed on personal terms.

“I wouldn’t want to get into the details of the offer of Esperance that they were given but we know what we put on the table and what we put on the table exceeded the offer that Esperance had made at the time, so I believe we acted in good faith.

“I want to also thank Sekhukhune because they were able to recruit a player of his quality and nurture the environment for him to be able to show his talent and they are well within their rights to ship him off to top leagues in Africa,” he added.

The Glamour Boys are still in the market searching for players to strengthen the squad ahead of next weekend’s Betway Premiership league opener against Marumo Gallants.
