Kaizer Jr Clears Air On Zwane

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr has set the record straight on rumours Arthur Zwane could become Nasreddine’s Nabi’s second assistant after the departure of Fernando Da Cruz.

The latter was part of Nabi’s new technical team, but had received an offer to join the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, which Chiefs have accepted.

There had been talk of Zwane potentially filling the gap which Da Cruz left in Nabi’s backroom staff, but Motaung Jr insisted those are not true.

“No, he doesn’t,” he told Robert Marawa on Radio 947.

“I think sometimes that’s the challenge, because we’re not sitting here with you, answering the questions.

“Also for us, when someone says something on social media, the way it’s being picked up and run with it, it also causes unnecessary energy around the team.

“But with coach Arthur, no. Coach Arthur is our Senior Academy Coach, he is there at the academy side. I think they project and the programme they’ve put together is well underway.

“There was no truth to that at all.”

Chiefs, though, currently still have an assistant coach, as Khalil Ben Youssef, who worked with Nabi as AS FAR and Young Africans, is still at the club.

Meanwhile, the exit of Da Cruz is not 100% finalised yet, according to Motaung Jr.

“If the Moroccan Royal Federation comes and says this is a person we would like to bring on board, as a club we’re not going to stand in anyone’s way,” he stated.

“We were very privileged to have coach with us. It shows the kind of caliber of technical staff we want to bring on board.

“Coach isn’t here right now, we’ve made an announcement last week about an offer [but] there is a few administrative things to be sorted out still.

“When the times comes, we will be able to elaborate more.”
