Chiefs beat bitter rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the final to lift their 14th Ke Yona Cup. But despite beating Stellenbosch FC, Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates on their way to the trophy, the Glamour Boys have struggled in the league and are currently six games without a win.
Nevertheless, their top 8 hopes are still alive, with Nasreddine Nabi’s men currently in ninth place based on goal difference – and Motaung Jr insisted it is the club’s clear target to qualify for the MTN8 after missing out this season.
“We need to be [in the top 8],” he told Xoliswa Zondo on 5FM.
“We know our objectives before the season started. We missed out on it last year.
“We are going to give everything that we can to make sure that we feature in every cup possible next season.
“It’s two tough games – Polokwane City and Sekhukhune, teams that are actually doing well this season. So, it won’t be easy but from our side it’s a must.
“We need to be in the top 8 and give everything we can to make sure we do that.”
