Riveiro – This Pirates Coach Joins Me At New Club

Former Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has revealed that assistant coach Carlos Nodar Paz has also left the Buccaneers and will join him at his new club.

As reported by this publication, Riveiro left South Africa on Wednesday evening and is set to be unveiled by Egyptian giants Al Ahly in the next 48 hours.

But he wasn’t alone when he took the plane to Egypt, as Paz joined him and will continue to work with the Spaniard at his new club.

“I’m traveling today with Carlos Nodar – a guy that joined me earlier this season in Spain first and then here in Johannesburg,” he told Robert Marawa on Radio947.

“And that’s it. Orlando Pirates is still competing. The fact that our chairman and the management allowed me to have an early departure it doesn’t mean that Orlando Pirates doesn’t have important games, important games not only in terms of points but also looking at the next season as well and I’m respecting 100% that process.

“Even though I would like to take all of them with me, because we worked three years together and achieved very important things but it’s something right now that is not on our agenda.

“And that’s it.”

Riveiro also revealed that he will likely be unveiled by his new club on Thursday, as he starts to prepare for the upcoming games including the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

“It’s a good opportunity for, that’s also why I think our chairman allowed me to depart on this new chapter,” he added.

“It’s an exciting opportunity for me for many different reasons. I’m trying to find the energy already even though I didn’t manage to rest so much last night, to make sure that tomorrow when it’s time to start I’m ready to go and to give my best, to work with maximum honesty, maximum professionalism and at the same time knowing there’s going to be many Pirates fans that will monitor what I will do.

“I’m full responsibility, not full of energy right now, but tomorrow I’ll be fine and ready to start again. I think tomorrow [Thursday] will probably be the day that everybody will know,”
