Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has revealed the reasons behind the club’s decision to hold their pre-season camp in Spain ahead of thenew campaign.
Amakhosi returned to South Africa earlier this week after a period of intensive preparations abroad.
Motaung explained that the trip was aimed atexposing the team to a new environment, while also helping the new technical team settle in andintegrating the club’s new signings.
The Sporting Director believes the camp achieved its objectives as Chiefs continue to build towards thestart of the upcoming season.
“The idea of the camp in Spain was about taking the team away from home to experience, a different environment with unfamiliar conditions, integrating the new technical team and also working on induction details for getting the team ready for the season,” said Motaung Jr on Chiefs’ website.
“Playing practice matches against opponents from various leagues around the world proved worthwhile in helping the team adapt to different styles of play and, with the help of our mental coach who worked on the psychological aspects of the game and team building exercises, we achieved all of our intended goals.”
Chiefs supporters will get their first chance towatch the team in action when Amakhosi face Zimbabwean side Scottland FC in the Toyota Cup on 26 July at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium inRustenburg.
