Kaze Highlights Key Strength Of Amakhosi Signing

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze says not every striker will have the skills of Thierry Henry but rates Flavio Silva as a player the club needed.

Silva has come under criticism before making his official debut with the Amakhosi faithful yearning for a prolific and exciting number nine which they have lacked over the past decade.

But Kaze feels the Guinea-Bissau-born Portuguese striker is someone who can be likened to a poacher, who knows how to anticipate spaces to occupy to score goals.

“I don’t really want to go long into this, with personal matters of players, we’re here to talk about the game tomorrow, but I will give you some facts [on Flavio],” Kaze said.

“It’s a player that trains very well, scores goals in training and a player that… you know people think all strikers need to be like Thierry Henry or Robert Lewandowski, or have skills to dribble – but he’s a different profile, a player in the box.

“When there’s crosses, you will find him there, when there’s a shot, you will find him there for rebounds, he has tremendous presence in the box and we need players like this.”

Chiefs host Polokwane City this evening in their first home league game of the campaign at FNB Stadium (19h30).
