Kaze On Chiefs Title Race – It’s More Complicated

Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze was blunt in his response as to whether the club remain in a title race after their Soweto Derby defeat to league leaders Orlando Pirates.

Chiefs suffered their worst defeat to Pirates in over two decades with the 3-0 thumping at FNB Stadium, where Tshepang Moremi, Oswin Appollis and Evidence Makgopa did the damage.

It leaves them eight points behind the leaders Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, who are in second by only one goal.

“I would say that it’s more complicated than before,” he said when iDiski Times asked if he feels there’s no longer a title race before addressing attitudes that needs to change for the remainder of the season.

“In football there not many ways things, only to go back to work, give confidence to the players, to show them that what has worked before and I feel like three weeks ago we were on a very good run, but the last three weeks we’re starting to get into very dangerous moments,” he said.

“We need to pick our heads up, to have leaders, players who are leading, showing up and showing the way – and to work and swallow that pill [of losing the derby] and go forward.”

Chiefs now turn their attentions to Richards Bay who they face in KZN on Tuesday evening.
