iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has likened Mamelodi Sundowns striker Iqraam Rayners to his former teammate Kaizer Chiefs Collins Mbesuma, describing them both as natural goal poachers.
Rayners has become a key member of the Sundowns squad and has already scored eight goals in 11 appearances in all competitions.
Last season, he was among the top goal scorers in the league with 15 goals in 28 matches for Stellenbosch while also being an important member of Bafana Bafana.
Khanye referenced the 28-year-old’s goal in Sundowns’ 3-0 win over Sekhukhune United in the Betway Premiership over the weekend, saying he is just like the former Zambia international who scored 35 goals for Amakhosi in 33 matches in the 2004/05 season.
The former Chiefs winger added that these kinds of strikers also have the ability to shoot without even looking.
“He reminds me of Collins Mbesuma,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“I once asked Mbesuma why he scores so much because sometimes he would just turn and shoot without looking and he said to me ‘Junior the poles don’t move I just look at the line’.
“That statement stayed with me. It’s difficult to turn and shoot without looking at the posts and not hit straight at the goalkeeper. He [Rayners] is a natural goal poacher, and he has proven it. He is a totally different player.
“Sometimes coming to Jozi deals with your mind-set and I think he was tested the first time around in Jo’burg. He did well to leave and go back to Cape Town and get some experience because when he returned, he improved even from training at Sundowns and compliments to his coaches too.”
