CT Spurs Make Major Announcement

Motsepe Foundation Championship Cape Town Spurs have announced a “groundbreaking sponsorship agreement” with Albany Bakeries for the next three years.

The Urban Warriors have had a torrid 2024/25 campaign so far, winning just two out of their 12 opening league fixtures, and are now hovering with just one point above the relegation drop. On Friday, Spurs suffered yet another defeat, going down 1-0 to JDR Stars to slip into 14th spot

The sponsorship agreement with Albany Bakeries could be what the Spurs just needs to get their campaign back on track, with the club announcing their latest partnership at Ikamva on Monday afternoon.

“Cape Town Spurs Football Club is thrilled to announce a groundbreaking sponsorship agreement with Albany Bakeries. The three year agreement marks a significant milestone for both esteemed organisations who both were coincidentally established in the same year, 1970. With a legacy of excellence, Albany Bakeries and Cape Town Spurs unite to continue to uplift their community through the power of football.

“We are pleased that our call to the corporate world to assist football at all levels was heard.

“Albany Bakeries,a subsidiary of Tiger Brands, had no hesitation to partner with us once they witnessed first-hand the work that the club has done and is doing within our community. Together we will continue to nurture even more talent, encourage participation, and celebrate the joys of football in our city and beyond.

“As two household names committed to fostering community spirit, this partnership embodies our shared vision for a vibrant future. By collaborating closely, we aim to inspire the next generation of football enthusiasts, enhancing the illustrious legacies of both Albany Bakeries and Cape Town Spurs.” said Alexi Efstathiou, CEO, of Cape Town Spurs at Ikamva, Spurs’ training facility in Parow.

” Together, we embark on this exciting journey, dedicated to building stronger connections with our community, and supporting young athletes in achieving their dreams. This partnership underscores our commitment to not just being leaders in our respective fields, but also to being pillars of support for the communities we serve.

“To everyone at Albany Bakeries, from all of us at Cape Town Spurs, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your support. As we jointly continue our journey on our quest to change lives, we will provide our youth with even more opportunities and support, so that they too can create their own legacies into the future. OUR YOUTH, OUR FUTURE!” concluded Efstathiou.

“As one of South Africa’s most beloved heritage brands, we are thrilled to partner with Cape Town Spurs, a team cherished by the Cape Town community. This partnership excites us most because it brings us closer to the vibrant Cape Town community and allows us to play our part in inspiring the city’s youth to trade the streets for the pitch,” said Lorraine de Graaff, Marketing Director of Albany Bakeries.

“Stay tuned for upcoming events and initiatives as Albany Bakeries and Cape Town Spurs join forces to create unforgettable moments on and off the field,” the release read.
