Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has applauded his former side for acquiring the services of attacking midfielder Gaston Sirino.
Sirino completed a marquee signing move to Naturena last month, penning a two-year deal after parting ways with former side Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of last season.
Khanye congratulated Chiefs, however, believes the club brought the 33-year-old in, just to silence their fan base. He adds that if this signing is to yield any results, Chiefs needs to sign at least five more players of Sirino’s quality.
“Credit to them for getting Sirino,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“But they must also look at the surrounding because for Sirino to function well someone has to pass him the ball. You need to supply him. If he doesn’t do the supplying, he needs someone to do it, just like his partnership with Khama [Billiat].
“I’m very excited about Sirino joining Kaizer Chiefs. I think he is the best signing and I don’t even care about his age he can always get his confidence back. He is quality.
“But think I the club signed him to shut the fans up. Yes, they did a great job but now sign five more players of Sirino’s quality and balance the age. Sign attackers that are more or less like that guy.”
