Kaizer Chiefs‘ current goalkeepers have the potential to succeed, according to club legend Itumeleng Khune.
Fiacre Ntwari was signed by Chiefs in the off-season from TS Galaxy, as Khune ended his 25-year association with the club.

Brandon Petersen, Bruce Bvuma and Bontle Molefe complete the four options within the first-team squad.
Ntwari assumed the role as the first choice with Petersen out injured to start the new season but there are growing concerns that they have yet to find a long-term solution to the position.
“We have to give them credit, to play for a big club like Kaizer Chiefs is not easy. Many legends, and people who have travelled this path before us,” Khune said.
“They have been sharing their stories, that the Chiefs jersey is heavy and not for everyone. Even journalists have said that also, so it’s not a secret that not just anyone can play for such a big brand you need Kaizer Chiefs material.

“So, with the current goalkeepers I think they have great potential, they just have to forget about who they replaced, focus on themselves and help the team going forward.
Khune stated that he understood how big the task was to step into the void left by another legendary figure in Brian Baloyi, who left the club for a move to Mamelodi Sundowns, as he challenged then Bafana goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez for a place in the squad.
“When I got to the first team I knew I was replacing Brain Baloyi who achieved everything in South African football. So I knew that I had big shoes to fill, and when I was promoted I was offered jersey number 16,” Khune stated.
“I knew the pressure that the jersey was coming with. So I was like, can you guys just add 16 on top of the 16, to make it 32 so that I can start my own thing, which worked perfectly well. I managed to inspire other goalkeepers.
“But I just want the guys to not put themselves under pressure and say hey, we have to prove a point to say we are or will be better than Itumeleng Khune.
“No, they must run their own race, be in their own lane and in no time they will surpass what Itumeleng Khune has achieved.”
