Lorch – What Rulani Told Me Ahead of Pirates Game

New Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch was left unimpressed by his performance against Orlando Pirates on Saturday, and revealed the advice Rulani Mokwena gave him before the match against his former club.

Lorch made his debut against his former club Pirates in a 1-1 draw at Loftus Versfeld stadium. The 30-year-old played just over 60 minutes, but he wasn’t impressed with how he played and feels like he can do more.

The former Pirates midfielder stated that he wasn’t expecting the game to be easy, especially with Bucs supporters booing him.

“It wasn’t an easy game. I’m just happy for the opportunity to play. I’m not happy with the result,” Lorch told Sundowns media.

“I didn’t have a good game, but it’s my first game. I need to go back and do the corrections and see where it went wrong.

“We should’ve won this game. I was not expecting it to be easy because I was playing against my former team, you heard the supporters booing me. I just need to improve on my next performance.

“What Ronwen [Williams] said gave me so much motivation, it gave me the assurance that the guys are fully behind me, and I must play normal game.

“The coach told me not to put myself under pressure and just play my normal game.”

Lorch has another chance to impress in yellow when Masandawana face La Masia in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 on Tuesday.
