Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa has been a welcomed addition to the squad after his loan return from Moroka Swallows.
The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Sekhukhune United and with Zakhele Lepasa and Evidence Makgopa ahead of him in the pecking order, went on loan to Moroka Swallows.
However, their dire financial situation saw the former Bloemfontein Celtic star, who scored six goals in 13 league games for the Dube Birds, recalled for the remainder of the 2023/24 campaign.
“He’s a high calibre striker for us, we’re happy to have him, he’s scoring goals at training as well, he’s shown it over the last game that he’s got goals in him,” Xoki said about the South Africa international forward.
Mabasa had an immediate impact with a goal in the 6-0 win over Crystal Lake on Saturday but has been warned that he will need to be at his best to earn his place in a squad that Jose Riveiro only fields one striker at present.
“We hope he comes in and helps us in terms of beefing up that department, it’s not going to be easy for him because the competition is tough but with hard work, perseverance and pushing, he’s going to get his chances and when he gets them, he will help us win games.”
