Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Neo Maema admits that he’s thinking long and hard about his lack of minutes this season.
Maema has been struggling to breakthrough into the Sundowns team as he only played just over 400 minutes and scored one goal since the arrival of Miguel Cardoso.

With Lucas Ribeiro, Marcelo Allende, Arthur Sales and Tashreeq Matthews all on form for Sundowns, Maema saw himself going down the pecking order.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder had a great CHAN qualifier with Bafana Bafana where he captained the national team recently and had a good run of matches where he played close to 1500 minutes under the leadership of Rulani Mokwena and scored one goal last season.
Speaking with Andile Ncube, the 29-year-old explained that he has looked at the matter of not playing but he admits he was given a chance by Cardoso when he arrived at Sundowns.

“The thing is I have looked at it, l’m not going to lie. I had the conversation with the coach,” Maema said on Metro FM.
“To be honest he gave me an opportunity when he arrived, but when new players come in and perform, the team comes first.
“Me being in the stage that I am, I have to ask management. It’s something I have to think long and hard about.”
He was handed a start in their Nedbank Cup quarterfinal clash against Sekhukhune United on Friday night.
