Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Neo Maema shared his views ahead of the big clash on Saturday against Orlando Pirates.
Maema, 27, has been in fine form this season netting five goals and assisting on one occasion after playing 17 league games.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic star explained that they treating this game like any other clash even though it’s Pirates.
The Buccaneers has already defeated Downs this season in the MTN8 semi-final. Meanwhile in the league Sundowns beat Pirates 2-0 in the league back in December.
“The progression has been going well you know, we just came from an off so we just rejuvenating getting back to our groove preparing unlike any other game, we always focus on our own goals but this one is no different we just have to make sure that we ready for the game on Saturday,” Maema told Sundowns media department.
“As a team, we were expecting a highly motivating and we know that playing a big game you know no one actually needs motivation when it comes to such games but I expect them to come more because they also have gotten into the confidence and into the gelling of their players.
“I think you’re going to expect a very difficult match and a highly motivated team.
“Pirates is going to come to similarly they come basically the first fixture that we played against them but now Pirates is a bit more different because of the used to pay three at the back now to play four, so I think they’re gonna be very motivated but I think some of the game models hasn’t changed much, they very, very dangerous on the counter so it’s things that they’re going to expect from Pirates.
“One thing about Pirates is that the supporters are gonna be behind them because they playing at home so it’s not going to be foreign for them to try to come at us and to actually get more numbers up front, because they playing at their home ground and the fans will be behind them. So it wouldn’t be they wouldn’t be actually surprised to see them actually coming at us. But we have our own goals, our own processes.”
