Former Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu striker Lehlohonolo Majoro has named Peter Shalulile, Iqraam Rayners and Relebohile Mofokeng as the attackers that have impressed him so far this season.
Shalulile has scored six goals in 22 league games for Mamelodi Sundowns, however clocked 100 goals in yellow while also closing in on Siyabonga Nomvethe’s all-time goal tally.
His teammate Rayners in his first season at Chloorkop is competing for the golden boot, as he currently sits in second position on the top goal scorer charts with 12 goals in 23 league appearances, while he and Shalulile have also helped Sundowns reach the final of the CAF Champions League.
Meanwhile Mofokeng has four goals in 21 league outings, though he has been influential in Orlando Pirates’ progression this season in all competitions with 12 goals and 13 assists overall.
Major told iDiski Times writer Lethabo Kganyago in edition 202 of the newspaper that he has been impressed with the Namibian’s resilience in grinding when he lost his form, Rayners’ consistency and Mofokeng’s fearlessness.
“I must say I am happy with the return of [Peter] Shalulile because at some point he wasn’t scoring and people were starting to say ‘No, he’s done, he’s finished’,” Majoro told IDiski Times.
“And for me, his resilience and his belief in himself to score goals, he is one of the players that made me say like, as a striker, I’m happy with what he has done. And it shows a person that does not have complacency or that sits and relaxes and says I’ve arrived.
“[Iqraam] Rayners is also doing well, and I’m mentioning these people because they’ve been there in the game for far too long. And I’ve seen them and I’m still seeing them doing their best.
“And obviously, Rele [Relebohile Mofokeng] for Orlando Pirates as a youngster, playing fearlessly and making things happen for Orlando Pirates. He’s one of the players that has also made me say our football is going elsewhere.”
