Since joining Pirates, Mbatha has seen his football career growing in leaps and bounds as he won the MTN8 and Nedbank Cup in his first season with the Buccaneers.
The 24-year-old went on to represent Bafana Bafana in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and played a crucial role in their qualification netting two important goals, in the 2-2 draw against Uganda and 3-2 win over South Sudan.
The former AmaZulu midfielder explained the relationship he has with Mbatha and how they connect since they play together most of the time in the Pirates midfield.
“I think he is going far and I’m happy, he always messages me like I said in the other interviews,” Makhaula said after the Nedbank Cup draw.
“We call each other, we check each other and check our games when we play different teams.
