Orlando Pirates midfielder Makhehleni Makhaula is expecting rising teen sensation Mohau Nkota, to not only take a leaf from Relebohile Mofokeng’s come-up, but also offer him competition when the 2024/25 season gets underway.
Nkota, 19, was recently promoted to the Pirates first team from the reserve side where he stood head and shoulders above his young peers, prompting Jose Riveiro to hand him a senior squad slot.

The Kimberley-born right-winger also formed part of the Buccaneers squad that held pre-season in Spain, where he is said to have really impressed the technical team with his talent.
Speaking to iDiski Times senior writer, Velile Mnyandu, in edition 165, ‘Cash’ offered advice to the youngster to follow examples set by Mofokeng, but also touted Nkota to give ‘Rele’ a run for his money.
“I think, if they can learn from Rele,” he said in his iDiski Times interview with Mnyandu.
“Rele was really patient and even if you gave him two or three minutes he was excelling.
“I think he Mohau [Nkota] is a good player. I have seen him in Spain. I have seen him in training sessions and I have seen him in a friendly before we closed the season, and I think Rele has big competition there because that boy is also good.
“I think with time we are going to see fireworks.”
