Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has reiterated that he is surprised by people who are doubting his capabilities in the position.
Mngqithi rose to the hot seat at Chloorkop after the departure of Rulani Mokwena two months ago.
He oversaw the pre-season tour of Austria where Sundowns won two of their five matches. The coach was also in the dugout when the side was eliminated from the MTN 8 by Stellenbosch FC in the semi-finals.
The exit brought with it a barrage of criticism from fans and pundits alike. However, Mngqithi told iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in edition 171 of the newspaper that he is surprised by the reaction.
“Yes, I am surprised”, Mngqithi told iDiski Times.
“I am surprised because I don’t think a lot of people in this country know what I’m capable of. But you must also respect people’s opinions and not always think that you are right because you might be wrong”.
Mngqithi went on to say he is not moved by the criticism because he is driven by what he wants he wants to achieve,
“To be honest, I don’t even know about those comments because I don’t have any social media” added the 53 year old.
“And I think that helps me a lot because I’m never driven by what the crowd is saying. I’m always driven by what I want to achieve”.
