Kaizer Jr Addresses Nabi Mandate

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr is playing his cards very close to his chest regarding head coach Nasreddine Nabi’s mandate ahead of tomorrow’s 2024/25 Betway Premiership resumption.

Amakhosi face a real test when they take to the field against Marumo Gallants at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Saturday, 14 September.

During the recent Betway Premiership launch, coach Nabi urged the club’s fans to manage their expectations when it comes to the trophy front especially after a dismal 2023/24 season where they finished in low 10th placed finish.

In his candid interview with veteran broadcaster Robert Marawa on MSWOn947, ‘Chincha Guluva’ was very cagey in his response, not giving much away, and was rather diplomatic.

“To be fair to the coaching staff as well, they’ve come in and they’ve done their due dilligence,” Motaung Jr said.

“They’ve been looking at the squad, doing their squad audit over a period of time.

“The coach came in, everyone knows exactly the situation how he came in. He still had a cup obligation to fulfill.

“He’s come in. He’s getting a sense of the team. Getting the understanding of the structure, also sitting down looking at, not just this transfer window, the next two, three, four transfer windows to see how do we restructure ourselves and re-balance.

“So, from the technical staff side, they’re coming in to hit the ground running but at the same time to be able to lay the foundation for the longer term success.

“So, he’s getting to know his players, the players are getting to know him.

“The game model is very clear – very demanding, and if anyone knows the technical elements, it takes time to get that synergy.

“And I think that we need to have the patience. We need to give the coach the space, we need to give the players the support and also the coaching staff the support to be able to implement what they need to.

“It’s not gonna happen in a space of spending time with a team for two months. There’s many factors not just technically but psychologically.

“I think what’s important, let’s give the coaching, the technical staff the space, let’s give them patience and support the players to be able to give the best because that’s what they going on to do,” the former Amakhosi hitman added.
