Kaizer Chiefs left-back Happy Mashiane has expressed his delight about returning to the starting XI after the exit of Thatayaone Ditlhokwe.
Mashiane, 27, saw his game-time limited under Nasreddine Nabi with Bradley Cross often preferred as left-back in the first half of the campaign.
However, Ditlhokwe seemed to have overtaken Cross in the pecking order before his move to Al-Ittihad opened the chance for Mashiane to shine.
“Obviously, I hadn’t played a lot in a while,” he told the club’s media team.
“So, coming back into that big game was a big motivation for me. I had to go in and give my best.
“With the guidance of the coach and his technical staff, I felt confident, and it turned out great.
“Personally, I am doing everything I can to give the coach what he wants from me.”

Chiefs have gone three games unbeaten, winning the last two, with Mashiane revealing the club’s new signings have brought new energy to the club.
“The mood in the camp is good,” he added.
“We have some new players who recently came in and they bring a different dimension to the team from their experiences playing football in other parts of the world.
“We know Tashreeq [Morris] has been around. [Thabo] Cele and [Glody] Lilepo have come from overseas and brought their experience to us. They are integrating into the setup nicely.”
