Miguel Ahead Of Sundowns Clash – It’s Small Details

Kaizer Chiefs defender Inacio Miguel believes they will rise up to the occasion against Mamelodi Sundowns, but small details will determine the outcome.

Miguel, 29, has been an ever-present figure in the Chiefs defence since his off-season arrival from Petro de Luanda, featuring in 19 of their 22 games in all competitions.

He was part of the side that lost 2-1 to Sundowns on matchday four at FNB Stadium and the 4-0 drubbing in the Carling Knockout in what has been an inconsistent season on the basis on their results.

Miguel, speaking at their team bonding day with Toyota South Africa feels that the squad have shown they can match up to Sundowns, and the desire to come back with a positive display after the loss to SuperSport United is there.

“Listen it’s a big challenge, this weekend will be a game like we showed already at FNB that we can do something great, we lost on details, the second game, I don’t want to talk about but the first game, it’s an example we can do something against Sundowns,” Miguel told iDiski Times.

“We have to understand the moment of [form] Sundowns are in, we have to respect them, but we need to be loyal to ourselves and have to do what we’re capable of doing that can make the big difference in these games – it’s the small details that we can win or lose these games.

“The most important thing, we want to come back after the loss of last week – I think we can do something.”

Sundowns have been free-scoring in the league with 42 goals in 18 games, with Lucas Ribeiro Costa the central figure with 16 goal contributions in the league, which Miguel admits is a player that can make a difference.

“Small details are not only for losing, but also for winning and Sundowns have the players that can make the difference with the small details,” he added about the Brazilians’ talent.

“We’re aware, it’s a 90-minute game and there will be mistakes but the message from our boys, we have to keep focused for 90 minutes, the small details can determine the results.

“Sundowns have a lot of solutions… we know them, we are ready and fully focused on this game.”

Two two sides meet on Saturday at the Lucas Masterpeices Moripe Stadium at 15h30.
