Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has suggested no team has the depth of Mamelodi Sundowns and tips them to win the league again this season.
Sundowns secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Golden Arrows, where Mngqithi led them to a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture in Kwa-Zulu Natal earlier this season.

While there was a contentious offside, for what would have been a third goal for Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld after they went down to 10 men as Jayden Adams received a red card, the league top scorer Junior Dion found the net from a penalty shortly after.
But Sundowns proved their mettle and title credentials for a sixth successive league win, and are now just one goal behind Pirates who lead the table, with both sides on 44 points from 19 games played.
“I will not confirm that [Sundowns will win every game from now on] but I have always said Sundowns have got what it takes to win the league, and I’ve always said it, and I’m not mincing my words there,” he said when asked by iDiski Times if this is where Sundowns hit their stride to yet another title.
“Even if you look at their players that were not on the bench, this team has got what it takes to win the league, I like the competition that Pirates is bringing, I like the competition that every other team is bringing, but the reality is; this team has got depth!
“And not just depth, I can maybe take one of two big teams [for an example] if player A or Player B is not in the team, it’s not the same team, but at Sundowns, if Teboho is not there, Marcelo is there – Jayden Adams is there, [Bathusi] Aubaas is there, Mkhulise is there, and for me Mkhulise should be playing regularly as well.
“So there’s so much depth in every position and based on that, even when the season becomes stressful, they have enough quality for the PSL, there’s no issue there, nobody should even think, there’s serious contention there, for me? I think it’s a no brainer…”
Mngqithi spent a decade at Sundowns, first as Pitso Mosimane’s assistant, co-head coach, head of first team football and then the sole manager before parting ways in 2024 – where he then returned to Arrows.
